Making bone: a small molecule approach Stem cells are a promising therapeutic tool that can be used for regeneration of bone. One way to control the differentiation of stem cells to bone forming cells is through the use of small molecules, known as corticosteroids.#lifETIMETC24

Making bone: a small molecule approach Such corticosteroids are also used clinically in the treatments of osteosarcoma, a primary bone cancer. However, their use greatly increases the production of undesired cell types such as fat, muscle and cartilage. #lifETIMETC24

This week I had the honor of being able to present my research on Osteosarcoma in Parliament as a Stem for Britain Finalist. I was able to meet with Martin Rhodes, MP for Glasgow North, and talk to him about my research and the importance of raising awareness for rare cancers.
