What happened to βIs fearr Gaeilge briste nΓ‘ BΓ©arla clisteβ? I went to a unionist school in the north of Ireland where theyβd teach you Japanese before theyβd teach you how to pluralise βthank youβ as Gaeilge. Just admit that you messed up with your elitist sneering and move on.

I co-founded the Learning Cooperative where we organised many Irish, Yiddish and Kurmanji courses. We also ran an event called βConfronting Israeli Apartheid in British courts.β Iβd be happy to have a constructive dialogue with you about speaking Irish. Iβm not afraid of how you feel.

Iβm truly sorry that you feel afraid of what I said in Oct. 2023. If thereβs something I can do to narrow the distance between us, I hope youβll say, whether publicly or privately. Peace will only emerge if people who profoundly disagree have difficult, empathetic conversations.

Apparently Douglas Murray wants to βdeport, deport, deportβ me (to Ireland? To Palestine? He doesnβt specify). Iβd be very happy to have a respectful discussion with him about why heβs wrong to attack lawyers in this way, and why heβs wrong to oppose Hamasβ application.

Iβm very grateful to my friends and comrades in the International Association of Democratic Lawyers for releasing this solidarity statement. It reaffirms the core principle that lawyers must not be associated with their clients, something Robert Jenrick would do well to remember.
