If addiction is defined as “continued use despite negative consequences,” then being on methadone in the current carceral system fits perfectly within that definition. I go everyday to keep withdrawal at bay, despite it causing severe harm. We need a new definition.

Hey Yngvild Olsen can you contact this OTP and tell them this isn’t SAMHSA guidelines - that counseling is not mandatory? And that this behavior by the OTP is punishing patients. And It’s not part of the culture change in clinics that you’re promoting. Just asking for a friend 🙏
