Labour is ambitious for our steel industry. Today, at Tata Steel, I set out our plan to get Britain building. We will drive up the demand for steel, preserve jobs and create a generation of new ones too.

Steel is key to the UK’s economic future. There is real anxiety and uncertainty following yesterday’s events. Steel communities deserve certainty and a just transition for their future. I will continue to make that case and stand ready to work with all stakeholders to do so.

We are at the scene of a serious collision on the M4 motorway. The road is currently closed in both directions between J45 & J46 It will remain closed for some time. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible Delays are expected in the area
