Watching six of our KS3 boys receive a standing ovation from a sold-out Alambra as part of ‘Memories of the Future’ for Bradford 2025 DanceUnitedYorkshire was the perfect way to spend a Saturday night. So proud of the boys for their hard work, commitment and confidence; amazing scenes ❤️

Next week, staff from school are walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise money for a local children’s hospice, who have supported students and families in our community. Any donations would be gratefully recieved: justgiving.com/page/carltonke…

Looking for excellent examples of character description in literature, that students can use as inspiration for their AQA P1Q5 answers. Anyone have any recommendations?

It’s here! Writing framework led by the brilliant Tim Mills who worked alongside some excellent people including Andrew Percival and Clare Sealy. Well done, folks. Wonderful stuff to support schools across the nation and beyond. 👏👏👏gov.uk/government/pub…

A key recommendation from Ofsted's English subject report was for policy makers & trainers to provide greater support for the teaching of writing. Pleased to see that advice heeded with the writing framework. Both primary & secondary will benefit gov.uk/government/pub…

Just read through the DfE's new Writing Framework. Lots of great stuff in here from a science of learning perspective. Great to see a recognition that transcription & composition place competing demands on working memory. Writing is cognitively more demanding than reading.

I'm beginning a research project and am interested in pursuing the role of named values in school. Not B.values, but values used by schools to create their school identity and ethos. Does anyone know where this all began, or any research into the impact of them? Jennifer Webb
