Staff from Georgian Bay Biosphere and Georgian Bay Islands NP, Parks Canada collected 156 turtle eggs from high-risk areas this spring. They have been placed in incubators and in August, hatchlings will be released in the same locations they were found. Kudos to all involved!


The little brown myotis, a tiny bat weighing 4-8 grams and measuring 4-5 cm long, feeds on aquatic insects over water during dusk and before dawn. Sadly, the species faces a significant threat from White-nose Syndrome. Learn more Georgian Bay Biosphere georgianbaybiosphere.com/species-at-ris…

This summer the Parks Canada team helped Georgian Bay Biosphere excavate, incubate, and care for turtle eggs collected from nests in high-risk locations. These two teams recently released 68 turtle hatchlings back into their natural habitat. 🐢
