Every World Health Assembly is significant, but this year’s is especially so. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus thanked the WHO Member States for reaching consensus on the Pandemic Agreement on April 16. The #WHA78 is expected to adopt it tomorrow.



A big turnout for the breakfast event on ‘outsmarting outbreaks’ with HananBalkhyحنان بلخي Dr Sania Nishtar and Nassar al Mubarak of the Mohamed bin Zayed Foundation for Humanity making a strong case for polio eradication and tackling outbreaks of diseases like cholera and measles.


Great to see leadership from Dr. Jo Mulligan, UK FCDO, HananBalkhyحنان بلخي of WHO Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean, unite with leadership from Mali, Nigeria, Pakistan and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance to discuss the programmatic integration taking place as the world moves closer to ending polio and controlling malaria and meningitis.



There’s no such thing as too early at the World Health Assembly. Kicking the day off with a health innovation discussion with Jeremy Farrar, Ilona Kickbusch, the Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin and Secretary of Health Ted Herbosa.
