Today marks 15 years since the original 2010 theme, “Planning and Budgeting for Children’s Rights: A Collective Responsibility.” This year’s theme revisits that commitment because despite some progress, children still face child marriage, poor access to healthcare and education.

Incase we have forgotten- Gaala Ahmed, a 17-year-old girl in Dadaab, was murdered after being forced into a marriage she didn’t choose. Her story is not isolated, it’s a national crisis. We begin 17 days to demand justice and change. Until justice is served.

In Turkana County for a scoping visit focused on child marriage, Today, we held an introductory meeting with government officials from relevant departments to explore collaborative pathways and deepen our understanding of the local context.

We had a productive meeting visit ADRA Kenya member of the Girls Not Brides Kenya Partnership. The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration in ending child marriage, exploring synergies around community empowerment,and Girls’ Education.

Today, we had the opportunity to engage with civil society organizations working on child protection issues in Turkana, fostering important dialogue and collaboration around safeguarding the rights and wellbeing of girls.
