Great day down in the city volunteering at the Chicago Marathon. Congrats to Coach Kort crushing her first marathon under 4 hours!

Today was the day for the 10 Minute Plank Challenge. This year we had a record number (14) of boys make it all 10 min and got to add their name to the board. Many were new to the list and one senior made it all 4 years. Great to see their physical and mental strength!

Shout out to Tre McClose for earning Worker of the Week. After being injured all of last season, Tre stayed motivated to get back to running this season. He had a big PR from 2 years ago and he’s looking for more on Saturday!

Today we had GVXC alumnus Valdis Slokenbergs zoom in from Texas to talk to the team leading up to the conference meet this weekend. Great to hear his wisdom and insight. Context and clarity! Once a Viking, always a Viking.

One of my favorite days as a coach is listening to seniors give their “What GVXC means to me” speeches. This has been a special group of boys who really made it more enjoyable and truly about the team. Very proud of the runners and men they have become. 💙GVXC💙

It was a great fall day for the DuKane conference meet, and also the day we honor our seniors and their parents for their commitment to the program.

Congrats to Sofia and Julian for earning All-Conference honors by placing 8th and 14th respectively. Very impressive in such a competitive conference.

Shout out to Senior Dominic Savarese on earning Worker of the Week. He has quietly progressed this season and has been racing real well. His last 2 races have been PR’s and he’s gone under 17 min both times.

Both the boys and girls teams scratched and clawed today to survive and advance to the IHSA Sectional meet next weekend. Boys placed 6th and girls placed 5th.

It was a very spirited Halloween practice with the boys today! Saw a gorilla race a hot dog. Stopped by some alumni houses. Visited the Ghostbusters House and Star Wars Cantina.

The boys raced strong as well today and placed 13th as a team. Proud of how they competed today and all season.

It was another wonderful GVXC Alumni run today. Maybe our best turnout ever. We had alumni going back to ‘05 and ‘08, along with a group of current, and maybe even future Vikings runners! Great to see how the grads are doing and share classic stories and memories! 💙GVXC💙

Despite heat and humidity, the boys had a great first week of camp. Early mornings help w/ temp, and proud of all these guys waking up early to get their run in. The foundation is being made for a great fall season!
