At the #MicrosoftEvent, they're showing Copilot playing Minecraft, which isn't exactly what I meant by "rubber hitting the road," but it's at least in that direction.

According to The Verge (theverge.com/2024/5/20/2416…), Microsoft announced the Copilot Plus PC, which are machines that have advanced AI capabilities. Could be ARM, Intel, or AMD-based, but today's stuff is all about ARM.

As it relates to Windows on ARM at this #MicrosoftEvent, I'm looking for mgmt process and app compat. I have data that shows a 50/50 split between modern and traditional mgmt. For Win+ARM to be successful, I think devices have to work with both. And x64 apps need to work, too

Dell just announced five new #AIPC models with Copilot Plus. Powered by Qualcomm - all laptops. #DellTechWorld #MicrosoftEvent

Dell also talking about integrations Intel and AMD, but the laptops they showed were all Qualcomm. A lot depends on how you define "AI PC". Microsoft appears to be drawing a line in the sand at 40 TOPS = AI PC. So if you have last years NPU...🤷‍♂️#DellTechWorld #MicrosoftEvent

According to The Verge's live blog (theverge.com/2024/5/20/2415…), Microsoft announced Prism Emulation for Windows. I suppose this is an analogue to Rosetta from the Mac world? My research shows 44% of orgs have 50+ Windows apps. App Compat is a HUGE DEAL. #MicrosoftEvent

#MicrosoftEvent Microsoft / Qualcomm are understandably highlighting areas where Apple has had an advantage for many years, like battery life. I can't help but wonder what pressure this puts on #Intel, as well. Will be curious to see what they announce next.

I wrote this last week: AI PCs need apps with broad use cases to gain traction: techtarget.com/searchenterpri… This is what I'm looking for today. Microsoft talking about Adobe's usage of local AI. Teams with live translations. Nice to see! #MicrosoftEvent

The first jaw-dropping moment for me today is Microsoft's Cocreator feature - you sketch a design and it uses that to make a "real" image. For anyone that's tried to write a prompt to get that perfect PowerPoint art, this is a game-changer! #MicrosoftEvent

Ok, #DellTechWorld keynote is done. Umm...I think I covered the #MicrosoftEvent more. Dell was big picture AI stuff...which I get since this is about cloud and datacenter and everything. I'll find out more while I'm here about the Copilot Plus machines.

The recent #SIEM activity indicates that security operations technologies are at a crossroad. Why is this happening and what does it mean? See my latest CSOonline blog for more: csoonline.com/article/212680… #cybersecurity #infosec #secops #SIEM #SOAPA #CSMA #GAI

Hahahaha....iPhone has been out for 17 years and it's JUST NOW getting the ability to put icons anywhere on the screen. 🤯🤯🤯 #WWDC

Gabe Knuth (@gabeknuth) 's Twitter Profile Photo

And now Calculator is coming to iPadOS. WHA? OMGOMGOMG! (I mean, Math Notes looks cool, but again...iPad has been out for 15 years. How has it taken this long?) #WWDC

I find it refreshing that I haven't heard the phrase "AI" one time during this #WWDC keynote. I'm sure that's on purpose. I still expect something, but having been hit with an AI stick repeatedly this conference season, I really appreciate not having to hear it over and over!

I think this is the year I switch to YouTube TV. I’ve been a big Hulu Live fan, but the lack of multi view is glaring. I don’t love YouTube TVs implementation of it where they pick the arrangement, but it’s better than nothing Hulu - please tell me this feature is coming soon!

Dear CNN, please pay more attention to the ads you display on your app. This clickbait ad suggests spraying WD-40 into your faucet, which is a terrible idea for many reasons that include damaging the faucet or contaminating the water with a petroleum product.

I spent 2 months switching from my Mac to a Dell XPS 13 w/ Snapdragon Elite, and I wrote about it. Pt1: Windows on ARM was (mostly) flawless, and the laptop was great bit.ly/4fP11oD Pt 2: Switching from macOS to Windows. Spoiler: It’s hard. bit.ly/3BYIisG
