Thanks to CGIAR , IGAD Secretariat and FAO in Somalia for the opportunity to present Berghof’s work with community members across #Hirshabelle and #Galmudug on resolving conflict related to climate change and environmental degradation.

Our #Somalia expert Zainab Mohamed spoke about climate security risks in the country with @IOM_Somalia, SIPRI and Denmark in Somalia today in #Nairobi. She addressed the limitations in climate security initiatives and our work of forging a greener peace in the #Hirshabelle State.

Our Insider Peacebuilders Network in #Somalia took part in a workshop on the climate, environment & conflict nexus. Different exercises helped identify causality among #ClimateChange, environment degradation, livelihood insecurity, maladaptation-biodiversity & regeneration.

Agriculture is the backbone of rural communities in Hirshabelle, #Somalia. Various clans also experience conflicts because of scarcity of resources. To improve capacity, we hosted a workshop with 30 farmers, community leaders, women and youth on sustainable farming methods.

One of the most inspiring components of the programming in Somalia. It‘s amazing to see how many people Garasho-Wadaag is reaching in Galmudug and beyond with its message of climate resilience and peace. Thanks to Burhaan and all those involved!
