Day 7: Bishop Michael reminded us: "Not talking, cutting ties, holding grudges—it's a dangerous cycle that does more harm than we imagine." Our Lady of Perpetual Help, help us to love, forgive, and hope again. Tomorrow, Olive Foley shares on ‘Grief – The Price of Love.’

This morning in Galway Cathedral, a ‘Candle of Atonement’ was lit for the Day of Prayer for Survivors and Victims of Abuse—a sign of repentance, healing, and commitment to renewal. May we walk in the light of Christ, with justice and compassion. @Galwaydiocese

Greetings from Galway Cathedral this St Patrick’s Day. We remember the faith Patrick brought to Ireland — a faith that still holds us together across distance and time. Prayers and good wishes to all, near and far.

He is not here; He has risen. (Luke 24:6) The tomb was empty, and a question remained: Could it be true? Could He still be near? This Easter, look again. Christ is risen. The story is not over. — Msgr Peter & Fr John Gerard

A moving Diocesan Requiem Mass this evening for Pope Francis. Bishop Michael laid flowers on behalf of the people of the Dioceses of Galway, Kilmacduagh & Kilfenora, and Clonfert. With them, our prayers and thanks for his humanity and ministry. May he enter eternal paradise.

At the Cathedral, we’re praying for the Cardinals as they prepare to choose the next Pope. May the Holy Spirit guide them in wisdom, unity, and hope for the Church’s future.

Wonderful to see so many in Galway Cathedral today, especially our regular visitors from the USA, pausing at the image of Pope Leo XIV. Wherever you are, take a moment to stop and offer a quiet prayer for him as he begins his ministry.

Prayers were offered this morning at Galway Cathedral for the Diocese of Clonfert, our sister diocese, on the feast of their patron, St Brendan. We marked the feast with gratitude for St Brendan’s example and recognised the close ties between our dioceses.

Come, Holy Spirit. Come into my heart with your fire. Breathe new life where I’ve grown tired. Stir faith where I’ve gone quiet. Lead me, guide me, change me. Make me ready for what you want to do— in me, and through me. Amen.

We turn to the Sacred Heart — as a sign of love that suffers with the wounded and stands with the forgotten. In that heart, pierced yet still beating, we place our prayer.
