Garces Memorial was blessed and grateful to have Bishop Brennan celebrate Mass with our student body and faculty on campus today. A wonderful way to kick off the school year. And what a wonderful surprise by the Bishop to bless our new principal, Ms. Leon at the end of Mass.

On Friday, Garces Memorial held a Service Fair in the gym. Juniors on campus were able to meet with representatives from various non-profit organizations to help them give back to those less fortunate in our community.

Lunch time today was a blast. In tandem, ASB and the Latina Leaders Club celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month and Foodapalooza together. With food vendors from all over Bakersfield serving up tasty treats for students while Mariachi Oro y Plata entertained the crowd. #WeAreGarces

Aden Gutierrez and Jocelyn Sala received the Kern County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Business Education Foundation scholarship for the 12th annual El Grito de Delores - Mexico’s Independence Day. Congratulations to our Hispanic-Latino Culture Club co-presidents.

The sophomore class returned to campus yesterday after an overnight retreat at Three Rivers. The students stayed at Santa Teresita Youth Center. The separation of the boys and girls on the retreat were full of fun prayer and fellowship.

Garces Memorial High School mourns the recent passing of our beloved Vince Fanucchi.    Mr. Fanucchi graduated from Garces in 1967 and began teaching and coaching on campus in 1974.    Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon our brother Vince.
