We are very lucky on Stroke Unit, MRI & Older People’s Care MRI to have access to a green space we can cultivate for patients to enjoy, through this account we would like to celebrate our garden and the positive impact #HospitalHorticulture has on the experience of our patients and staff 💚

Our first #PlantoftheWeek this spectacular Brugmansia also known as Angel’s Trumpet is flowering for the first time this year.. This beautiful shrub is native to tropical regions of South America but will thrive well into autumn in a sheltered spot even in sunny Manchester 🌞

This weeks #PlantOfTheWeek is this beautiful Salvia Elegans 🌺 It is also known as Pineapple Sage because of its distinctive smell🍍 Another lovely tropical shrub from South America that is thriving in this sheltered spot 🌞

We have created a little “Winter Wonderland,” to brighten things up a bit for patients & staff during dark times 🎄Thank You Dawn Pike (RN) for switching on our lights Lizzie Therapeutic Activity Coordinator W31MRI 💙 for the help decorating the garden @PamelaTayRN @cheapcoleen for the snacks! 🥧 it was a lovely day ❤️

After months of putting feed out and improving the garden as a habitat for birds we finally have a pair of nesting Blackbirds ❤️ Mr BB pictured enjoying the crocuses in his new sheltered, peaceful home 🏡 we can’t wait till they start singing for our patients in Spring 🎶

Big Spring Clear-up weekend 🧹🪴 Frank has put two full days in on top of working his own garden and allotment, we are so lucky to have him!
