Just #home to #Devon after a 3 day mega-tour of #gardens, #nurseries and #plantfriends all over #Kent, #Sussex and #Hampshire - covered 1000 miles and got to see the best #horticulture this country has to offer. Lots of highlights in next week's Twitter stream. But now 😴😴😴

The start of last weeks mega #garden tour of the #East started at Great Dixter - an interesting garden with a lot of horticultural #history and some beautiful set pieces. Also one of the best slices of #Chocolate #cake I've had in ages!!

Next up after Great Dixter was a visit to the fabulous Louise Dowle and Steven Edney, to get incredibly jealous at 'The Land' and the No-Name Nursery, a visit was well overdue! Wow, something special Is going on there. Also gave a talk on #Orchids to their local #Garden club.

Next up on our #roadtrip of the #East was the Plant Heritage National Collection of #Hedychium, collected by Andrew Gaunt - and my god, if this is what #heaven looks like then I will die very very happy. A sweet shop of my favourite #genus and managed to get some new plants too!

Thanks to Saul Walker Saul Walker for yesterday's terrific 'Exotics" talk to Exton Gardening Club. At the very least, I quintupled my knowledge on the subject. Now, have I got this ginger I.D. correct from this week's visit to Abbotsbury Gardens - Hedychium gardnerianum?

TECHNICAL #PODCAST GLITCH: In 5 years I'm surprised this has never happened before! After recording the "best ever" #TalkingHeads waffle, it's disappeared. The Tech Gremlins have stolen it away, and we'll have to refer to Ep. 238 as the 'Lost Episode' - back next week though!

A robust conversation on Peat-free today - still many nuances over the use of these composts needs to worked out and communicated effectively, but it was great to have this discussion and will be part of the #gardeners chat for a long time to come!

Fantastic end to the weekend at Burnham Nurseries for the #Devon #Orchid #Society Autumn Show - and the turnout was fantastic with lots of terrific plants - great to spend time with lots of Orchid friends too!

The annual #apple harvest at #Stonelands is complete with about half the varieties yielding well. Our surplus goes to All Ways Apples in #Plymouth - they are used in their wonderful community juicing days and their big #AllWaysApple #Festival - 30th Oct - Devonport Guildhall
