#OTD 09/05/1945: Theresienstadt Camp was liberated. The "camp-ghetto" was used as a propaganda front by the Germans. A few hundred miles East, Czech resistance forces incited a rebellion against the remaining Nazi forces and won.

#OTD 10/05/1945: Prague is liberated by the Red Army after nearly 7 years of Nazi occupation, in one of the final battles on the Western front in WWII.

#OTD 14/05/1941 - The first deportations of Jewish people from France begun. Some 3,700 Jewish people were interned at camps.

#OTD 15/05/1944: Deportations of Jewish-Hungarians begun. Between May and July 1944, around half of Hungary's entire Jewish population were deported to Nazi camps.

#OTD 24/05/1938 - Hungary, German'y ally, enacted its first set of anti-Jewish laws. One of the first was quotas on the number of Jews in certain sectors of the economy. The laws also reversed the equal citizenship status granted to Jews in Hungary in 1867.
