Great read in HerCanberra on Bell academic & #humanrights campaigner Susan Hutchinson's 25 Nov event - an #Afghan women's market at ourANU - selling wares to raise money to directly support women living under Taliban rule 🇦🇫 and their defenders. Come along! hercanberra.com.au/life/a-local-w…

It's been an honour working with Afghan Ambassador Wahidullah Waissi for the #InternationalDayForTheEliminationOfViolenceAgainstWomen 100 activists, academics, practitioners & journalists came together to discuss how Australia can continue #AdvancingAfghanWomensRights ANU Gender Institute

Grateful for the community who gathered yesterday for #InternationalDayForTheEliminationOfViolenceAgainstWomen to begin the #16DaysOfActivism with our ANU Gender Institute event on #AdvancingAfghanWomensRights. We are stronger together in our efforts to #StandWithAfghanWomen

The Afghanistan in Australia, in collaboration with ANU Gender Institute and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade 🇦🇺, participated in an event organized by Azadi Zan in Canberra. The “Empowering Afghan Women’s Rights: A Successful 16 Days of Activism” event took place at the ANUBellSchool on 25 November 2024. Read a brief update

The Afghan love of poetry and music makes me even more mad about the #Taliban criminalisation of #AfghanWomen's voices. These words from Wahidullah Waissi, spoken in prose at our ANU Gender Institute event, sounded like bittersweet poetry to me. #StandWithAfghanWomen #16DaysOfActivism

I extend my sincere appreciation to the participants who brought meaning and depth to the event, as well as to the supporters and contributors, including ANU Gender Institute and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade 🇦🇺, whose invaluable efforts made this initiative possible.

A one-day symposium, 11 April 2025, hosted by the ANU Gender Institute , in collab with CemsANU will explore 18th-c texts that have been marginalised because of their resistance to contemporary categories of literary genre. More details & to register: genderinstitute.anu.edu.au/events/unliter…
