Happy to share our new Nature Communications paper. We show that calcium changes how microbes process plant litter, increasing #soil #carbon persistence. Work by @JLehmannCornell Roli Wilhelm Steffen Schweizer nature.com/articles/s4146…

Fantastic to have this study published Nature Communications about how calcium promotes the formation mineral-associated soil organic matter by mediating coupled biotic-abiotic mechanisms: doi.org/10.1038/s41467… Congratulations Itamar Shabtai, @JLehmannCornell, Roli Wilhelm, and others!

Interesting article about how to define #carbon sequestration in soils and climate change mitigation by Axel Don et al. @Thuenen_SOM JensLeifeld Claire Chenu and others doi.org/10.1111/gcb.16…

Great postdoc position with the fantastic soil biogeochemistry group Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Noah Sokol. Exciting topic and an awesome opportunity I can highly recommend applying!

Excited to kick off the #SoilPACMAN project in Paris on how soil pores influence soil organic C dynamics and its biogechemical microhabitats. Connecting @TUMsoil and iEES Paris at Sorbonne Université & CNRS 🌍. Thanks for support DFG public | @[email protected] & ANR! Stay tuned for our upcoming results.

Was a great pleasure to recently host Meghan Barnard from #UQ and Svenja Roosch from Leibniz Uni Hannover to discuss intriguing data about the soil organic carbon storage in Australian Vertisols and prepare some exciting aggregates from a clay content gradient for upcoming #NanoSIMS @TUMsoil.

Soils harbor high spatial heterogeneity influencing biogeochemical matter cycles and carbon dynamics. Let's bring together different angles at EGU Soil Sciences session 5.5 - deadline 10th January at 1 pm CET! 👉meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU24/session/…👈 @Nele_Meyer1 Sara König @Mud_Maik Edith Hammer

Happy to contribute to @MADsoil's special issue of #JPNSS such as the method review on the 'Architecture of soil microaggregates' and by leading 'Impact of bare fallow management on soil carbon storage and aggregates across a rock fragment gradient' 👉onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jp…👈

Looking forward to discuss soil spatial heterogeneity and biogeochemistry EGU Soil Sciences 5.5 next Tuesday at 10:45 am in hall X3 and at 16:15 pm in room -2.21 at #EGU24 See you! 👉programme: meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU24/session/… @Nele_Meyer1 Sara König @Mud_Maik Edith Hammer M.
