To mark #InternationalWomensDay, we are highlighting the fantastic research carried out by some of the researchers in Organic Geochemistry Southampton at OceanEarthUniSoton! 👇(1/7)
BOGS2021 has begun! Don't forget to tune in for Amy Elson's (Amy Elson) talk on Eocene hydrology at 15.20 and flash talks from Emily Hollingsworth (Emily Hollingsworth) and Gordon Inglis (Gordon Inglis) on Eocene/PETM carbon cycling from 17.00! #BOGS2021
The Organic Geochemistry (Organic Geochemistry Southampton) group at OceanEarthUniSoton are advertising various NERC-funded PhD projects! Topics include paleoclimate and astrobiology. Deadline is 4th of January. See below for more details. Please RT!
New paper in Annual Reviews ("Biomarker Approaches for Reconstructing Terrestrial Environmental Change") led by Gordon Inglis and feat. Emily Hollingsworth from OceanEarthUniSoton. Link here: annualreviews.org/doi/abs/10.114…
We’ve got a new paper out on climate #TippingPoints in Science Magazine: “Exceeding 1.5°C global warming could trigger multiple climate tipping points” science.org/doi/10.1126/sc… Explainer: climatetippingpoints.info/2022/09/09/cli… 🧵Thread on what it says, & the implications: 1/30 #ClimateChange
Check out the amazing view that the WA Organic & Isotope Geochemistry Centre team and TrEnD Lab recently got to see at #SharkBay! Renowned for their exceptional stromatolites, the team sampled a mix of microbial mat types, coquina shells, and saline water which was twice as salty as the oceans. Amy Elson
Happy NationalScienceWeek! Did you come down to anti-conference last weekend? We had a great time taking the audience back in time to check out some amazing fossil specimens and how geochemistry can be used to study them 🦖Inspiring Australia – National Networks Amy Elson Madison Tripp Luke Brosnan
It was great to see so many STEM enthusiastic high school students on campus last week for the Curtin University DISCOVER program 👨🔬👩🔬 We had a great time showing students our lab facilities, and our many amazing samples! Amy Elson Luke Brosnan
