The Battle of Stratton was fought on this day in 1643. An outnumbered and near starved Cornish Royalist army battled uphill all day to expel Parliamentarian forces and secure Cornwall for the King. Stratton’s Antony Payne, standing at 7’4”, likely fought with the Cornishmen 〓〓

Gool Petrok Lowen! Happy St Petroc’s Day! Born in Cymru 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 and educated in Éire 🇮🇪 he travelled to Kernow 〓〓establishing a monastery at Padstow. He later travelled to Breizh ➕and is remembered at Sant-Pereg. Together with Peran and Myghal, he is a patron saint of Kernow 🐺🦌
