"A growing human population, ever-encroaching development & globalised travel & trade have accelerated disease emergence. We’re entering a new pandemic era...Once we accept that human activity is what led to this, we may finally be empowered to escape it." theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

This is such a neat piece of research tracking the exact location of #VanGogh’s Last Painting. But what is most amazing to us working in landscape & agriculture is how the tree roots remain unchanged in all those years. Nature’s stability is truly amazing! nytimes.com/2020/07/28/art…

Important proof of concept of yield potential by Asseng et al: we know vertical farming works well in horticulture, but this result for a basic staple crop is really neat. No need to feed the entire world this way, but it shows how much land can be saved for nature & CO2-fixation

In many places around the 🌍, rural women can’t: ♦️ farm ♦️ get loans ♦️ raise livestock ♦️ own land or animals But if they did, #ruralwomen could make all the difference in the fight against hunger and poverty. Let’s make sure they have the opportunity.

It is estimated that at least 60% of all human diseases are zoonotic, meaning that they can be transferred between #animals & #humans. We must also consider the #environment in the spread of these diseases & how it can be a reservoir for disease. #OneHealth #OneHealthDay #Health

We need to break down the barriers so more women & girls can go into science & agriculture. Food and Agriculture Organization's Chief Scientist, Ismahane Elouafi's message is clear: without women in science, we cannot have food security for all. We need you! 👩‍🔬👩🏿‍🔬👩🏼‍🔬👩🏽‍🔬👩🏾‍🔬👩🏻‍🔬 #IWD2021
