This Governor just told the world he DOESN’T GIVE A DAMN about doing the real work of governing to keep Texans safe after the horrific July 4th floods. Greg Abbott just added congressional redistricting to a 30 day Special Session that should be laser focused on saving lives.

Look at the date. It was issued TODAY. While Search & Recovery is ongoing, this black-hearted governor added a partisan power grab to a 30 day agenda that should be all about ensuring this NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN. I am often disappointed in Greg Abbott but this is revolting.

A superintendent just shared with me that 17 percent of their 3-10 STAAR READING SCORES scores improved after they paid TEA 50 dollars per test to have a human being review the software generated grades (54 out of 310 resubmissions increased).

Don’t be fooled. Governor Abbott wants to replace 1 STAAR test with THREE high-stakes tests PER YEAR created & manipulated by his commissioner. This scheme should never see the light of day. We will never be truly free of the testing insanity as long as Gov. Abbott is governor.

Y’all know how much I despise the STAAR test …written at a higher grade level/sets up kids to fail, on-line only, requires 8+yr olds to type answers, graded by AI (faulty scoring, can appeal but costs $). But replacing w 3x/yr tests written by same test co and TEA? No thanks.
