Really important meeting in Glasgow this evening on defending civil liberties and protest rights. Such a determined movement across the country. It is not going away, and that’s never a given. Too many lines have been crossed for too many people.

Pleased to speak on behalf of Glasgow Trades Council at our ‘Defend the Right to Protest’ public meeting last night. Big crowd and a broad platform bringing together the movement’s different strands to resist efforts to restrict our civil liberties.

On Sunday, Unite Hospitality members at Village Hotels in Glasgow will lead Britain’s first major hotel strike for 40 years. 🏨 WATCH Daniel explain why.

GTUC will be there on Sunday. Come & join us & everyone else to show solidarity with comrades in an all too often exploited industry. Unite Hospitality have done a such a fantastic job with hospitality workers and disputes. These workers deserve a massive turn out. Be there!

Victory to the Village Hotel workers!

All power to the Village hotel workers. In the first strike at a major hotel since 1979, these young Unite Hospitality members are striking for a real living wage, paid breaks and equal pay. Brave and inspirational.

Glasgow TUC delegates joined Unite Hospitality members on the picket line down by the Clyde yesterday as they began the first major hotel strike in a generation. Victory to the Village Hotel workers! 🚩

For clarity, this strike is very much still on and pickets will continue from tomorrow. Next megapicket is Saturday 9th August at 4pm and public support is very welcome.

Today, senior management Village Hotels phoned the police on our peaceful picket claiming that the noise we were making was upsetting customers… Which is weird because almost every customer took a leaflet with many voicing their support for our members action for equal pay!
