White-tailed Sea Eagle update: Last year's Glengarriff chick (pictured aged 9 weeks) is now in Co Kerry but he spent some of the winter in Roaringwater Bay, Co Cork. One day he was joined briefly by his sibling Cuileann, who fledged in 2022 (see image of their tracks 3/11/23).

I can't believe I find myself in the position to share this with you, but here is what I believe to be the first Irish sound recording of a Golden Eagle! It begins with a husky chattering from an angry Peregrine which was warding it off, & the eagle sounds like a yappy terrier!

On the flip side, 51 young have now been fledged in the wild. No of fledged young crashed in 2018+ due to the loss of 2 most productive females to bird flu but is increasing again. One Irish bred female fledged 10 young in 4 years since 2020 and no of pairs is up to 16 in 2014
