I think the line to give public comment* at LA City Hall might be longer than the merch line at Cowboy Carter right now. I’m not at SoFi, but I think this competitive! *The Mayor’s budget proposal for LA suggests about a billion dollars of cuts to key city services and jobs.

AND we already have 17 helicopters —- —compared with just 14 public bathrooms. Bonus fact from Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez: for every 40 hours of service, a helicopter supports just 1 arrest.

The City of LA is SPENDING money (during a budget crisis) to STOP Venice Dell - an affordable housing project that the public wants, the City desperately needs, & that 👏 WAS 👏 ALREADY 👏 APPROVED 👏 by the City & the State. (Even a federal Judge spoke up about it 👨‍⚖️)

Today, I went to the LAFPP Board to try and save the City tens of millions of dollars & avoid hundreds of layoffs for next fiscal year. Unfortunately, we weren't successful. The City is currently paying more than we need to when it comes to making Police Pension Contributions.

How has Dyke Day LA stayed free for 17 years, even as Pride commercializes? As Pride month becomes increasingly expensive, one Los Angeles event has maintained its no-cost, no-police model through grassroots organizing and gift economy principles. lapublicpress.org/2025/06/why-dy…

Was at an AM Pride event. It was so full of queer joy, and then I saw someone w/ tears in her eyes. I asked if she was ok. She said ICE just executed raids in her community. What do you even say or do? We need every bit of joy to energize us but the world continues to attack. 💔

In just a few days, LA City has spent $9 million on LAPD in response to pro-immigrant protests. This is 9x more than is budgeted for the ENTIRE NEXT YEAR for Represent LA, the city’s program providing legal support for immigrants.

LAPD costs for responding to pro-immigrant protests are $17mil — 17x more than what’s budgeted for LA’s immigrant legal supports program (Represent LA) for the entire next year. It’s also more than the entire budget for LA’s unarmed crisis response services for a full year.

Grassroots organizations in Camarillo & Carpentaria have launched campaigns in support of the families hurt by ICE in their region. These are run by local, reputable groups on the ground with a history of caring for campesinos — we’ve vetted. Please share widely

Can’t be at the first mtgs (today at City Hall or Sat at CSUN), but I hope that folks plug into this process! It is FAST, but the capacity for change is huge. Council will still have final call on what gets to ballot, but it’s SO HELPFUL to have commission engage w/ key reforms!
