In the 37 years between 1855-1892 Walt Whitman wrote, rewrote, and expanded Leaves of Grass, leading to 8 editions. This doesn't seem to happen anymore, poetry collections are published and never returned to. Here's the 120 year old copy @stu_mcpherson_ bought me in the summer.
