Athletes…When your coach never admits to being wrong or never recognizes different points of view, he’s measuring himself NOT the idea!!

Learning implicitly is better than learning explicitly. If you’re challenged with velocity, do this and hold your impact position. Don’t let your hands run past the Wave Master.

One of my least favorite things to do is write a lineup. I find myself thinking about who’s not in it more than who is in it. Making hard decisions is the beauty/struggle of coaching!

There are a lot of folks in education loudly arguing that we need to move faster, faster, faster. And I can tell you, from the classroom perspective, that anyone saying this definitely has NOT been in a classroom for some time.

When I give clinics, I’ll eventually state my opinion on OVER COACHING. Which is… over valuing information while simultaneously under valuing inspiration!! Reminder …Play seldom seeks feedback. Weekend golfers don’t want your advice. They want to enjoy a round of golf!

You can also do this drill with the ball already in your glove. Imagination throws!! The younger athlete needs throwing reps and the fielding of the ball can be a hindrance to their reps.

Here’s an example of elite defense at 1b that 99% of people in attendance wouldn’t appreciate. You can receive the ball in foul territory to import your catch probability!!

Back in 1994, the Cardinals selected Bret Wagner with their 1st pick. We were playing 1 on 1 hoops at the time. A different time!! Baseball is hard!

Writing a book requires you to synthesize your arguments…the competition for 👀 is enormous. I read because I understand the sweat equity that went into producing thoughts. #BeLessWrongTomorrow

Have you ever watched little kids shoot at a 10’ hoop? They hoist it with everything they have….to accomplish the task at hand. Stop asking young kids to perform the swing the way their mature hero’s do it. In time! In time!

Great quote from Luke Wagner today. “Pitching got easier when I stopped caring about getting hit. It’s what happens when you enter the zone.”

Want to predict someone’s success? Forget grades. Forget charm. Forget who they know. The real differentiator? Grit. Here’s why it matters more than you think ⬇️

The reality of baseball is… Catchers get drafted as pitchers. Shortstops grow into 3b. Centerfielders slide to left or right. Embrace your adaptability! Athletes aren’t rigid, they just show up and compete…wherever they’re needed!
