Did Labor just come good on its promise to protect women at work? Today's win represents the most significant reform for access to justice in Australia in a generation, writes @isreinecke. crikey.com.au/2024/09/19/lab…

Delighted to see costs reform pass the Senate today, a game-changer for access to justice. It was an honour to play a very small role in this vital reform, including through Prof Thornton, Madeleine Castles & my report on damages & costs in harassment litigation for AGD AU.

Today at 4pm, the Full Federal Court will release its decision on whether the practice of shredding #FOI documents after a Minister leaves office is indeed unlawful (as well as just bad for democracy). Rex Patrick won in the Federal Court, but the Cth appealed. #auslaw #auspol

It won’t surprise many people that Scott Morrison’s Govt spent $256K taxpayer dollars trying to stop the release of #RoboDebt docs under #FOI, but it’ll definitely surprise some that Anthony Albanese’s Govt persisted with the secrecy fight spending $650K more 🤷‍♂️. #auspol michaelwest.com.au/the-price-of-s…

Our democracy should be open, transparent and accountable. But two years into the Albanese Government, a culture of secrecy prevails and whistleblowers are paying the price. It's time for the Albanese Government to walk the walk on transparency. See our ad in today's The Sydney Morning Herald👇

Why does Australia, one of the richest countries in the world, force the unemployed to live so far below the poverty line? It's anti-poverty week. Let's #RaiseTheRate.

A secrecy addiction can be very expensive. Anthony Albanese’s Govt has spent >$1 million losing #FOI fights with me, unsuccessfully denying but wrongfully delaying the release of public policy info. This from a Govt that promised greater transparency 😡 1/2 #auspol canberratimes.com.au/story/8794522/…

Great question 💪 from Senator David Pocock on Ministers shredding docs! A perfunctory answer from Minister Senator Murray Watt. It’s pretty simple - Mark Dreyfus has to issue a direction to Ministers that it is unlawful to shred their docs and it must not occur. #FOI #auspol
