#Onthisday in 1745 Bonnie Prince Charlie first made landfall in Scotland. on the 23rd April 1745, Prince Charles Edward Stuart, accompanied by only seven supporters, landed at Coilleag a Phrionnsa on Island of Eriskay from the French frigate Du Teillay.

We were pleased to welcome in members of the 51st Pentland Wildfire Explorer Scouts into the gallery earlier this week. The group are taking part in a camp locally and visited the Gallery as part of a treasure hunt around Galashiels!

Sir Walter Scott was born #OnThisDay in 1771 and features in Panel 82. He is still well regarded today for his novels and poems, but #DidYouKnow he was also involved in the rediscovery of the Crown Jewels of Scotland and the 1822 visit of King George IV to Scotland!
