A male Garganey has been spotted on the Purfleet Scrape today, no photos as of yet. The Garganey is an unusual duck in that it is a summer visitor arriving in early spring from its wintering grounds in Africa. A male is most easily identified by a broad white stripe over the eye.

Green by Name John Booth Mudchute Park + Farm Rev Dr Monastico First Swallow of year over Maze Hill station - may not make a Summer but it certainly cheered me up. Adds to my station list which has Peregrine, Red Kite, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel, Black Redstart Tawny Owl (often heard here but only seen near Vanbrugh Castle) plus usual suspects

Karin Tearle Green by Name East Greenwich Councillors Matthew Pennycook MP Icrazy that this crucial time for nesting woodland birds has been chosen to lop back trees at an SINC ( site of importance for nature conservation ) apparently main cost is the highways support for closing the road including traffic lights! It is a no through rd to a dead end

This Damselfly was seen in the Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park last week. Looks very odd. I'm not sure if I can be identified. But what stage is this? British Dragonfly Society Joe Beale

Reed Warbler singing loudly today in the Albion Channel #Rotherhithe. Probably breeding and seemingly happy to be so close to the busy footpaths on either side of the channel. Great urban wildlife.
