It was a privilege to fight for a 5% teacher pay increase in the budget. I led the fight in committee and on the floor but was unsuccessful. 14 of my fellow Republicans joined me in the effort to raise teachers’ salary by 5% but every Democrat voted for a 4%. Budget Amd. 12.

In the budget one Democrat sponsored an amendment ( no. 43) that would have cut over 30 million from the teacher pay increase and would have redirected 22.5 million of the raise to the district offices. Thankfully we were able to kill that amendment.

Great day subbing at Myrtle Beach Middle today! Dr. Christy and her staff made me feel at home and the students kept me energized. We reviewed for a state mandated test that I’m trying to eliminate. Ironic

Quick reminder: since January I was the one advocating for the 5%+2.5+2.5 pay increase over 3 years. Also moving step increases up every year. For most teachers a 16% pay increase. All Dems and some Rep voted against this plan. Just to keep the record accurate.

What do you call it when someone takes someone else's money openly by force? Robbery. What do you call it when a politician takes someone else's money in taxes and gives it to someone who is more likely to vote for him? Social Justice.

50 years ago today, Neil Armstrong, Mike Collins and I launched into space on a mission of enormous importance. God bless the 400,000 Americans who helped us get to the moon and back. Together, we Americans can do anything! Never forget July 16, 1969! #Apollo50
