Back at work after a couple of months off for baby n2. Super happy to see these fantastic four 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️, but mixed feelings leaving my little shrimp behind🐣.

(2/n) “Any model is only as good as the data it is trained on”. Data has characteristics (i.e., quantity, transferability and content) that affect the type of ML models to apply. Both our data and the used ML models should be tailored to our application.

(3/n) What are the ML utilities for microscopy?? ML could be used for data curation, exploration (i.e., visualising, interpreting), prediction and explanation - i.e., WHY did a model attribute an outcome to a cell (those who attended #I2K2024 these concepts are familiar to you😉)

(4/n) We discuss each ML utility with examples of use in several fields and how these strategies are or could be implemented in microscopy. We also explain what are the challenges and risks associated with using ML for microscopy (bias, novelty hindering, hallucinations...)
