The federal minimum wage is $7.25. The cost of Panera Turkey & Cheddar Sandwich is $10.29. It is not a radical idea that an hour of work is worth more than a turkey sandwich.

there is a conversation to be had about people who are black that look down on low income "hood" "ghetto" black people while simultaneously indulging in our aesthetics and vernacular but I dont have time for the people who don't understand nuance or economics

Anytime I've been interviewed by a woman of any race, I've never gotten the job. It's really a thing & it's even more frustrating when the person interviewing me isn't an expert or master in the role I'm applying for. Asking me generic questions just for vibes.

Every shared story becomes a lifeline for someone else. That’s how we build something better. When women tell the truth about their lives, they’re not just sharing stories they’re leaving behind lanterns. So the rest of us don’t have to walk in the dark.

This is how middle class Black academics write about poor Black people. No understanding of Black people generally. Just projecting elitism and claiming their personal standpoints as real knowledge of the world lol.

Worth the watch. I will say, Desirability x Class is an intersection that the community (black+lgbtq) need to be honest about & how class usually inspires us to be content w/ our individual treatments despite the collective reality.

and this isn't even just an issue for disabled people. everyone should be upset that their education and skills aren't enough to find a stable job! the only way to get a job should not be by selling yourself to someone in a better place than you

The comment she made later 'don't intellectualize my dick' was very specific & lacks accountability. Desirability, dating & using partners as social status is political & classist in many ways. She diverted the truth of desire being pedastalized over her identity politics

Then you'll wear nothing bc what suburban black folks think is fashion is white labels with hood aesthetics or poor aesthetics. Also, caping for a brand that doesn't support any of us but you think you're important bc you're allowed to shop there is sad. Leave the hood out.
