Our observatory in WA has been gifted a Wajarri name! 📡 Inyarrimanha Ilgari Bundara, CSIRO's Murchison Radio-astronomy Observatory. This dual name means 'sharing sky and stars' and represents the Wajarri Yamaji's long connection to Country as the region's first astronomers. ⭐️

Radio #ImageoftheWeek 📡 As we begin a New Year, take a look at the original radio receiver of Grote Reber, one of the world's first radio astronomers. More than 80 years ago he used this very receiver to detect radio light from beyond our galaxy.

It is with deep regret that we share the news of the recent passing of two valued friends and colleagues. Prof. Pip Hamilton and Eric Baynes, both contributed greatly to the Mt Pleasant Observatory in different ways and times. Our thoughts are with their families and loved ones.
