The UK government plans to tackle domestic abuse and halve it within a decade. Unless they take meaningful steps to change the law, culture and practice in the family courts, where perpetrators perpetuate the abuse with the complicity of the courts and professionals, this goal

🧵 Today, I call on Govt and criminal justice leaders to deliver an accountable and consistent criminal justice system. A domestic abuse call is made to police every 30 seconds. But far too many domestic abuse victims tell me the system has failed them. Here's my vision 👇1/4

We're seeing a regressive shift in young people’s attitudes to consent and sexual violence. In 2021, half of young people (53%) correctly identified that women are not responsible for keeping themselves safe from sexual violence In 2025, this has dropped to 36% - a huge concern

We know the scale and influence of misogyny online plays a huge role in shaping young people's attitudes to sex, consent and relationships. 77% of people think tech companies should be doing more to tackle women and girls’ safety online. The government must make them take action

52% people think the internet has become more dangerous for women and girls in the past 12 months. No platform should be able to put profits over safety. The government can address this by making mandatory Ofcom's guidance for tech companies on reducing harm to women and girls.
