The 🇬🇧 and other diplomatic missions in 🇸🇸 have offered to facilitate direct dialogue between President Salva Kiir and Dr. Riek Machar the 1st Vice President in an effort de-escalate the rising tensions in the Country.

South Sudan’s leaders must make efforts to de-escalate. A descent into violence and conflict is in no-one’s interests. My message to British nationals in South Sudan is clear. If you judge it is safe to do so - leave now.

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNMISS, Nicholas Haysom, is urging parties to South Sudan’s Revitalised Peace Agreement to take decisive steps to de-escalate tensions and prevent a return to conflict.

The war in Sudan has caused the world’s worst humanitarian crisis. Millions are in turmoil. Innocent civilians are in desperate fear for their safety. I'm bringing together the international community to end the violence and improve humanitarian access.

For lasting peace in Sudan, there must be stability. Innocent civilians should not be forced to flee their homes. Meeting with Amb. Bankole Adeoye and Filippo Grandi, I discussed protecting refugees fleeing the fighting and working with the African Union for a stable Sudan.
