Black-eared Wheatear aka Western Black-eared Wheatear (Oenanthe hispanica). The rearest among the other Wheatears found in Nigeria. A small, Palearctic migrant that utilizes the semi-desert and dry savannah habitats in its wintering quarters. #CitizenScience #BirdsSeenIn2023

It is found in the northern parts of Nigeria. Although, most of the Wheatears are ground dwelling birds, the Black-eared Wheatear prefers to perch on shrubs and trees. It is mainly an insectivorous bird that also feeds on berries and seeds. #wheatears #drysavannabirds
