Love that the first SABCS talk I could attend is Dr. Jason A. Mouabbi MD’s on ILC! So many pearls—Use of contrast-enhanced mammography & FES-PET, approved tx options targeting ERBB2 & PTEN-PI3K-AKT mutations, and research on other targeted therapies & immunotherapy in ILC.

#SABCS23 spotlight on cfDNA. Interesting poster: ctDNA in monarchE pop. by Dr. Sherene Loi, MD et al.; presented by Dr. Stephanie Graff, MD, FACP, FASCO . 24% of pts. in pilot w/detectable cfDNA at 24 mo. & all of those pts. had recurrence. However, recurrences found in 21% of pts. w/persistently neg ctDNA.

Fantastic synthesis by Dr. Laura Huppert, MD of the data presented today on CheckMate 7FL, KN-756, & IMPassion030. Neoadj. IO+chemotx improves pCR in high risk ER+/HER2- tumors w/higher PD-L1 and low-ER. No diff in iDFS & OS w/addition of atezo to adjuvant chemotx in TNBC. #SABCS23

The HER2CLIMB-02 results showing PFS benefit with tucatinib + T-DM1 , presented by Dr. Hurvitz, prompt more questions on sequencing of anti-HER2 regimens in pts. w/brain metastases. #SABCS23

Results from Phase 3 TROPION-Breast01, presented by Dr. Aditya Bardia, MD show statistically sig. improvement in PFS w/Dato-DXd. One interesting point—Median PFS improvement observed regardless of brain metastases.

In case you missed it, HIGHLY recommend referencing materials from yesterday’s session moderated by Dr. Carey Anders on Multi-D management of brain mets. Numerous clinical pearls with the Med Onc, Neurosurg, Rad Onc, Neuro-Rads, & Neuro-Psych perspectives! #SABCS23

Very insightful discussion by Dr. Barrio on results from SENOMAC, NSABP-B51, and IDEA trials (presented by Drs. de Boniface, Mamounas, & Reshma Jagsi , respectively) to optimize axillary management and adjuvant RT decision-making in early-stage breast cancers. #SABCS23

Our pts. frequently ask about lifestyle habits during #breastcancer tx. Exciting to see that in a multinat’l randomized controlled study (presented by Dr. May), a structured, individualized exercise prog. improved fatigue & other QoL measures during palliative tx of mBC. #SABCS23

Useful learning point from poster by Pereslete et al. in #SABCS23 spotlight: In a matched tissue comparison of HER2 status, over 40% of HER2 IHC 0 breast primary or extracranial tumors had HER2 expression in brain. Dynamic state of HER2 expression has therapeutic implications!

The most valuable aspect of attending #SABCS23 as a fellow has been the opportunity to strike conversations w/my heroes—clinicians, researchers, patient advocates, and more—and learn from their guidance & insights. Inspired by our Breast Onc community!

Truly thought-provoking data on INAVO120 presented by Dr. Komal Jhaveri and commentary on implications for characterizing & treating high risk ER+ disease by Dr. Hope Rugo. #SABCS23
