Since there’s been a lot of discussion about what our paper means for dinosaur life appearance, and a few complaints about how we didn’t illustrate it ourselves, here’s what the exoparia means for drawing dinosaurs (🧵)

Absolutely nothing

Many have complained that there have been insufficient visuals provided in the paper. In addition to being entirely untrue, the field is not at the mercy and service to hobbyist artists- it is to disseminate data and information, of which this paper does with tremendous success.

academics and random paleoartists on twitter are not obligated to digest every publication for the general population to understand the academic field of palaeontology shouldn't be treated as some machine churning out papers just for the production of new paleoart
