This winter, I put up 40 #starling boxes in and around a rural village in East Hampshire to learn more about what limits their population. The first boxes started to be occupied last week. This one got an overly ambitious inhabitant. Thanks to Hampshire Ornithological Society for funding the boxes.

As I was leaving Medmerry RSPB news came of an adult Night Heron near Posbrook Flood, Titchfield, Hampshire only a short detour from my journey home. It took a while to show itself but eventually gave some great views. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust Hampshire Ornithological Society
