1/ A thread on “The Pro-Competitive Consequences of Trade in Frictional Labor Markets” published Journal of International Economics. Link to the paper: drive.google.com/file/d/1gNpOXS… Summary: Taking variable markups into account in frictional labor markets reduces the gains from trade liberalization by 80%.


In June 2016, Trump justified his protectionist views as “the quickest way to bring our jobs back to our country.” In this paper with Tiago Cavalcanti and Pedro Ogeda, we show that the first US–China trade war created jobs — albeit in Brazil. 1/3
