As summer internships come to a close, we have two posters from the lab (Sema’s on mouse behavior and Haley’s on FSCV(soon)), and we said goodbye to Hibo as she returns to medschool.

This collaborative project with Sophia and David was a real treat as we pondered and wrote about how #dopamine spatiotemporal dynamics (#DopamineWaves) could be relevant for psychosis spectrum disordersβ€” among other issues.

Hamid_Lab UMN has 2 early posters @ #SfN23 from super talented junior research scholars in the lab on mechanisms for #DopamineWaves and DA-ACh interactions in dorsal striatum. Please stop by and support them 😁

New in Nature Biomedical Engineering, we present an #AI method that achieves accurate and flexible inference for #brain-computer interfaces. πŸŽ‰ It can infer causally in real time, non-causally, & even with missing neural samples, as can happen in wireless #BCI πŸ§ πŸ’» 🧡& code ⬇️ nature.com/articles/s4155…

πŸ€“πŸ˜ Elated to see my PhD work with BerkeLab is cited >800 times today. I think this is the most cited dopamine paper in the last 10 years (empirical). Am I wrong? In a future tweet, I will share the headwinds we faced as we try to get this work published.

Happy to share the latest from Hamid_Lab UMN biorxiv.org/content/10.110… The RL community has made important strides in understanding flexible behavioral control, especially wrt dopamine. But a longstanding, vexing puzzle is the relationship b/n β€œphasic” and β€œtonic” DA.
