Let’s talk about how Europe is handling the growing problem of authoritarian regimes targeting critics abroad. While awareness is rising, the EU’s response is still patchy and often ineffective - especially compared to the scale and sophistication of these cross-border threats.

The European Parliament leads the charge - setting up committees, debating resolutions, and raising the alarm. But words and warnings haven’t turned into real, enforceable policies or urgent actions. This gap leaves exiles vulnerable to harassment, and even violence on European soil.

Too often, this issue gets lost in the broader conversation about “hybrid threats” - like cyberattacks or disinformation - rather than being called out for what it is: a direct assault on freedoms and security.

Some EU institutions and national governments don’t see this as an emergency. Reported cases are still low, but many incidents go unreported. Political or economic ties with certain regimes make decisive action risky, and the lack of clear data can mask the real scope.

We urgently need a clear and coordinated response to transnational repression. This means establishing unambiguous policies that define and address these threats at both national and EU levels.

On one of the videos, a witness to the incident states that drones started flying out of a truck parked near Olenegorsk. As reported by the Telegram channel Baza, which is close to law enforcement, the truck driver might not have been aware of the drones; he has been detained.

#Russia This needs verification. Telegram channels are reporting that a fifth Russian airfield, Voskresensk, has caught fire in the Moscow region.

Russian propaganda ignored the attack on military airfields. The first reports appeared only after a press release from the Russian MOD. The main TV channels - Channel One, Russia 1, and NTV - instead covered the offensive in Ukraine and the bridge collapse in Bryansk Oblast.
