Dehydrating your sourdough starter is so easy and it’s my favorite way to share it with someone so they don’t have to feel pressure to do anything w it right away. It can last forever dehydrated. The oldest (so far) is 4500 years old!

My son started his own peanut butter business when he was 8. He made the peanut butter at home and sold it at the farmers markets every Thursday and Friday. His table was set up next to mine and that kid would sell out every time. He did this for a few years and then veered off

I made blue butterfly pea flower infused honey this evening. And just like blue butterfly pea tea, if you add an acid to it, it turns a pinkish color. The stronger the acid, the brighter the pink. All I had on hand was lime juice.

We put a mirror on one of our sheds on a whim years ago and it has been the source of so much entertainment The roosters especially get so obsessed with looking at themselves lol

We're entering a transitional era that will hit faster and harder than the industrial revolution This is hard for parents to intuit, but your teenagers will have better instincts than you about the world they're coming up in. What you need to try to give them is discernment

Baking w/ yeast: “ew, water is too cold.” “Water too HOT” “It’s cold in this room” “Too warm, can you turn the fan on?” “I’m too old for this” Baking w/ sourdough starter: “Haven’t eaten in days, but I got you girl” “Lovely weather we’re having” “I’m fine. Here’s your bread!”

You've been lied to. Plowing fields and relying on "modern" agriculture isn’t feeding the world—it’s destroying the soil we depend on for survival. Here’s why backyard permaculture & home gardens are the real solution to our global farming crisis (and how to be part of it): 🧵

The reason I mute accounts that activate my disgust reflex is because disgust is a hard wired protective mechanism and repeated exposure to disgusting ideas will, over time, make them feel more acceptable (it’s called habituation) Psychological warfare imo

This year in the garden has had some major challenges (mostly involving storms and goats) but the zinnias are coming along nicely! I love these flowers so much because they could not be more low maintenance.

One of the girls grew cukes and made pickles (her first ones!) Grape leaves contain tannins and help keep the pickles from getting soggy.
