This week is #graduation at University of Salford, so we felt it is the ideal time to share a few things some of them have been up to in their #studentprojects #studentsuccess #graduation2023

Sean Neilsen (now Resonado Labs) studied #MSc #Acoustics. He used COMSOL to simulate a novel type of parametrically designed circular baffle. A prototype was 3D printed and measured with a Uni-Q driver donated by KEF Audio UK. #studentprojects #studentsuccess #graduation2023

Arshaq Malik (now at Amina Technologies), studied our #MSc #Acoustics programme. He measured vibration of two of their DMLs using our Polytec Ltd laser vibrometer, then put the data into COMSOL, Inc. to predict far field directivity patterns, which in turn fed a raytracing model.

James Evans, studied our #MSc #Acoustics programme. He used our #WaveFieldSynthesis rig, Microflown Technologies probes, an acoustic camera and accelerometers to study coherence, isotropy and structural response in 2D and 3D diffuse fields. #studentprojects #studentsuccess #graduation2023

Come work with me on building #acoustics #research! We'll be applying standard and innovative measurement techniques to gather impactful datasets and research best practice. You'll work in the field, in our world-class acoustic labs, and get to use some new toys from Microflown Technologies.

A fun acoustic wave scattering visualisation engine here from Rick Hughes 🚲🔊🎶 , & a great demo of using #PyScript 👌🏼

Salford Acoustics own Jonathan Hargreaves doing a sterling job talking about his loudspeaker simulation research to our new students on an otherwise rainy induction morning! Salford Uni News Salford Uni Research

Did you know that we can measure loudspeaker polars or full 3D balloons using the four-audio ELF robot in our full anechoic chamber? Contact us via [email protected] if this is something you'd be interested in. #measurement #audio #loudspeakers #anechoic

four-audio This directivity balloon was measured quite coarsely, bu you can still see the interference lobes between the LF and HF at the x-over frequency. It looks more extreme than usual because radius is pressure in Pa (not dB) in narrowband (not ⅓ octave). #loudspeakers #audio #lobing

Our #acoustics #research #seminar this Wed 18th Oct is an #immersive #spatialaudio double-bill! First Rob Oldfield of salsasound will tell us about live sport mixing using #machinelearning. For more info see hub.salford.ac.uk/sirc-acoustics…

Our #Acoustics #Research #Seminar this Wed 21st Feb comes from Jon Burton of University of Derby. Join us on campus or online to learn more about the environmental impact of large open-air musical events, and hopefully lots about bass! For more info or to join visit hub.salford.ac.uk/sirc-acoustics…
