How stylish is this black beaded cape or jacket? Known as a pelerine, it's covered with a scrolling pattern of jet black beads with black beaded fringe. 🖤 This was created between 1870 and 1890.

Did you know we have drawings in our collection? ✏️ Including this, a ‘View of a Village’ by Joseph Farington (1747–1821), which was created from pencil, ink and wash on paper pasted on a mount board. It shows a village across a river with a stone bridge in a rural landscape 🌳

These artworks from our collection are sketches from Flemish Prints and Study for a Male Costume (verso) by George Cruikshank (1792–1878) ✏️

‘State Room, Governor's House, Royal Hospital, Chelsea' was created by artist George Percy Jacomb-Hood (1857–1929). The painting is an interpretation of the retirement and nursing home where British Veterans lived. 🎨

We just love a summer painting, and this one is no exception! ☀️ ‘Golden Afternoons, Cornish Coast’ by Albert Julius Olsson found its way into The Harris collection after being transferred from the Leighton House Museum in 2018 🎨

This painting, aptly named ‘Landscape with House on the Edge of a Wood’, is the work of Preston-born artist Anthony Devis (1729 - 1816) 🎨 Devis was a landscape artist, working primarily with watercolour and oils. His half-brother, Arthur, was also a well-known artist! 🖼️
