A court has awarded our client £49,534 in damages against their landlord. The sum includes amounts for harassment, direct discrimination and a breach of the deposit rules. It should be a lesson to all landlords, unlawful actions against your tenants can be very costly.

Helping a client and her 13 year old who are living in rat infested temporary council accommodation our solicitor wished the teenager a good summer holiday. “Not with rats”. She replied. What a damming indictment of the conditions families in temp housing are forced to endure.

This is not an isolated case. Whilst many of our clients are living in conditions not fit for humans they see more and more luxury tower blocks being built in Harrow that remain largely empty because they are unaffordable to most people.

We are pleased to have been granted permission in a judicial review of Harrow Council's housing allocation scheme. We believe the council is failing in its public sector equality duties to families with disabled children. The hearing is to be expedited.

We are shocked and incredibly sad to hear that Simon has died. He was a great lawyer but he was also incredibly generous with his knowledge and time. A huge loss to the Law Centre movement.

Harrow Law Centre has been granted permission by the High Court in a judicial review against Harrow Council for it‘s failure to provide a mother and her son with suitable accommodation. The case has been expedited and the hearing will take place on 21/11/24.

We have been granted permission by the High Court in a JR in a case where a severely disabled child has been left in wholly unsuitable private rented accommodation by Harrow council. The Court has ordered Harrow to offer suitable accommodation to the family within 7 days.
