Important meetings held by The Film and TV Charity - now the major players who have the power to set standards for our industry need to turn these recommendations into actions.

It was a pleasure to be invited to speak at the SDGI AGM today. Inspiring to be in a room filled with such talented people and to talk about our common challenges.

An extremely troubling article from Guardian TV on the unacceptable conditions faced by women across TV. Sadly, this backs up what we hear too often from our members. We continue to push for fairer hiring practises and genuine inclusion in workplaces. theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/a…

Congrats Miranda. Directors UK are looking forward to working with you, and finding out how the broadcasters in the Creative Diversity Network plan to tackle systemic issues + improve inclusivity and career opportunities for members of under-represented groups for the long term.

I'm speaking at the #LabourConference next Tuesday about the pressures many of our members are facing as creative freelancers, and the steps The Labour Party Government must take to support TV and film directors.

Pleased that Channel 4’s licence has been extended but disappointing that the nations quota falls far short of the 16% that we and other industry bodies had maintained is necessary to sustain the careers of directors and other off-screen talent based in the nations.

This is why freelancers don't raise issues because the risk of effectively being blacklisted is all too real. Freelancers deserve the same right as employees to have their legitimate concerns heard without fear of detrimental treatment. theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2…
