if the modi govt had sense, we'd have abstained from the air strike & gone after the IMF bailout, it would've hit home. instead it went for a meaningless strike & abstained from the vote. is the abstention ( or is it a payout) the ramp off pak asked for? we'll know soon enough.

that does not seem to be the case, but even so where was the effort india put in to prevent this? or is this all the clout modi's india commands among the member states. a shame that our anchors don't sit on the IMF board, that's where this govt has clout

given the situation, today is a crucial day, we are at a point where both sides can claim some gain & sell it to their audience (that has been the primary purpose). if at this point there is further escalation, it is difficult to see how we will arrive at a similar opportunity.

this reminds me of the demonetization days, keep changing goalposts, or put up so many, hoping that by chance any one will be achieved (even that didn't happen). right now if the modi (and munir) lot is made happy by whatever goalposts they deem, we are all happy to go along.

this evening, the modi media will be a joy to watch. they have been madly and hysterically vile, but today the monkeys will have to do slapstick of a different order

first day questions, now larger than ever, we have had trump sit india down, we have international mediation. now we head into militarisation. a mess lies ahead with the danger of further modi/rss theatre to make us forget about what really happened. another such victory...
