You don't have the power / authority to stop others from using WHATEVER CHINGADOS they want for themselves or to refer to the nebulous collective we [mostly] mestizo folx from Cemanahuac make up. I mean, we're all willing to hear your suggestions. Just don't be assholes. 33/

Regardless of whether the "x" began in Latin America or not, however, I want to caution EVERYONE against the arrogant supposition that Latin Americans needed US Latinx folx to teach them Spanish has sexist elements. They figured that shit out for themselves before we did.

how do you solve a problem like mari (@yurizilla) 's Twitter Profile Photo

David Bowles (has left this place) I remember seeing anarchist graffiti using the x on my way to school in late 90's - early 00's Montevideo! The @ and the os/as were also used semi-regularly in other contexts - I remember seeing alumnos/as in school letters for example

Passing laws like the Stop Woke Act to ban teaching about the existence of racism literally proves a central point of critical race theory—that racism is often built in to our legal system & must be actively purged to achieve true justice.

The only Asian American students/alums who testified in the Harvard admissions case did so in support of Harvard & affirmative action. Blum "initially struggled to get Asian American students to join his suit [and] filed the lawsuit before finding any". npr.org/2022/01/24/100…

This interview was edited a lot 🤦🏻‍♀️- the full cut had me yelling: if you are ACCEPTING Ed Blum's case premise, that Asian Americans are pitted against other students of color, then you have already fallen for his trap.

Powerful message from Harvard University Asian American Assn president Benjamin Chang, the son of an immigrant family, for those who oppose affirmative action: "Do not use the Asian American community to advance your political agenda." #DefendDiversity @naacp_ldf washingtonpost.com/opinions/2022/…

The Harvard professors knowingly chose to take a side without having all the information, and the side they chose was against graduate students and in favor of the person with all the power, networks, and privilege. Regret won’t change the factors that went in to that decision.

What’s at stake in the Harvard admissions lawsuit goes well beyond Harvard University’s campus, says Bill Lee, lead trial counsel. As the world grows more diverse,“how we address diversity, inclusion, and inequality are critical to our society [and] to the globe,” news.harvard.edu/gazette/story/…

Congrats professor Taeku Lee! While we should celebrate this moment, there is still work ahead — Harvard has yet to make any commitment regarding resources for an eventual Ethnic Studies department. #50YearsAndWaiting #EthnicStudiesNow

It's sad that the got-rejected-by-a-super-selective college is held up as some sort of tragic narrative in a country where many students don't have an affordable 2nd-, 3rd-, or 9th-choice option available to them.
